For our new Pinner range, we decided to take a different approach the design process. Working in conjunction with our in-store design consultants, we focused on the feedback of our customers many of whom requested traditional painted furniture but without the shabby-chic look.
With a rich heritage of design stretching back over 200 years, we began by visiting the Heal’s archive at the V&A. The classic look of a turned-wood four poster, once an iconic part of the Heal’s logo, stood out at once and seemed ripe for a refresh.
Each part of the range, which includes a Four Poster bed, bedside table, chest of drawers, dressing mirror, round dining table, rectangular (refectory) dining table, sideboard, dining chair and dining bench, shares the same classically styled, turned leg detailing, with modern contours helping to creating an elegant silhouette.
Limed oak was synonymous with the designs of Ambrose Heal, so we decided to incorporate this finish into the solid oak tops. Each piece is then elegantly finished in a choice of two contemporary colours: Atlantic blue, with white ceramic handles and Cotton white with solid turned oak handles.
While the profile of this range appears simple, the real design is in the detail with dovetail joints on each drawer, wooden drawer runners and subtle wooden Heal’s branded handles. (image attached).
The modern craft of Pinner has been applied to a variety of bedroom and dining room furniture, meaning you can continue the look throughout your home.
