Launched in March 2019 First Home collection . To mark the launch we gathered eight talented young Soho House members including Jamal Edwards, Archie Proudfoot, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Scarlett Curtis and asked them to share their ‘firsts’ in a short film.
First Home is the First Collection by Soho Home, not to take direct inspiration from a Soho House; it does however still give the depth of texture, quality and consideration which you experience in ever Soho House.
We wanted to created a fresher more contemporary range which was accessible to our younger customers (or customers with a more modern living aesthetic), that live in smaller urban dwellings...I mean not everyone has a home similar to a Soho House!
The design and adaptability of each item was key, with multifunction where possible, small foot print furniture and upholstery. With the 3 seater sofa also able to double as a single guest bed.
First Home is the entry price point collection for Soho Home, which the owner can then build on over time & layer up with higher price point product to get the look they desire.
Design inspiration was still influenced by some of the most recent Houses, that followed the ethos of contemporary smaller spaces, Little Beach House Barcelona (especially the Beach Studio), Mollies Motel Diner and some of the smaller items from White City House.
I briefed designers internally and externally for the key exclusive ranges, Nuno Upholstery (inspired from LBB), Hugo furniture (inspired by Mollies), Parky and Helios (inspired by WCH). The rest of my product design team and I then worked on rounding out the collection though lighting, tabletop, textiles and accessories. Including collaborations with Ella Hookway and Laura Slater.
